Mildred Tullis Stephens

Mildred Tullis Stephens, 92, of Decatur, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. She was one of eight children born to Ruth and William Tullis of Valdosta, GA. Mildred was married 73 years to the late Wayne L. Stephens, who died August 9, 2016. She is survived by three children, Judy Carter of Birmingham, AL; June Rogers and Henry of Marietta, GA; Lee Stephens and Jan of Monticello, GA; sister Mary Tullis Rines of CA; sister Susan Tullis Oaks of AL; 7 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Mildred was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church for over 50 years. Until retirement, Mildred worked as a School Crossing Guard and later as a bus driver for DeKalb County. Mildred loved gardening and visits to the beach. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2016 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033 with Rev. Larry T. Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and after the service with light refreshments. Mrs. Stephens will be laid to rest beside her husband in Valdosta, GA. on Monday.
