Jones, Miriam Vandigriff
Miriam Vandigriff Jones, 95, of Atlanta, died February 13, 2014 at the home of her daughter in Rome, GA.
Miriam was born in Atlanta, GA on July 5, 1918 to Joseph Berry Vandigriff and Myrtle Watts Vandigriff, graduated from Commercial High, attended Tift College and was married to Charles Franklin Jones Jr.
She was an active member of Decatur First Baptist and worked for DeKalb County Health Department until retirement.
She is survived by son, Peter Van Jones of Atlanta and daughter, Priscilla Jones Tunnell of Rome; grandson Mark Vaughan Tunnell and his wife, Kim Hill Tunnell and three great grandchildren, Jack Vaughan, Hillary Ann and Sarah Frances of Rome; adopted grandsons Lai Hoang, Khanh Hoang and their wives and children of Alpharetta. She was preceded in death by husband, Charles Franklin Jones Jr. and daughter, Miriam Dedra Jones Sessions.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with Dr. Peter Rhea Jones and Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Decatur First Baptist Church or North Broad Baptist Church of Rome, GA. A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory
