Miriam Stephens Christy

Miriam Christy, age 89, of Decatur passed away August 7, 2014. Miriam was born and raised in LaGrange, GA and spent her adult life living in Atlanta and Decatur and finally residing at Briarcliff Oaks in Atlanta. She spent the majority of her work career as a bookkeeper for Fireman's Fund Insurance and Nations Bank. She had many interests including; traveling with family and friends, while they experienced new places, Atlanta Braves Baseball, Sunday afternoon golf and a good book. She embraced life with zest and will be remembered for her strength, endurance, resilience and grace. Miriam was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Henry Christy. She is survived by; daughters and their spouses, Kathy (Bill) Farley and Dawn (Scott) Burch; grandchildren; Sarah (Fisher) Marietta, Rachel Burch and Brian Burch and sister, Elsie Stephens Prescott (Tom) and many extended family members. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday August 12, 2014 at 11:oo am at the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Owen Stepp officiating.
