Miriam Lester Crook, age 94, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Lee Crook, of 63 years. She is survived by daughter, Karen Crook Roper of Marietta, GA and husband, Ken Roper; son, Alva Lee Crook, Jr. of Brandon, MS and wife, Suzanne Crook; grandson, Andy Roper and wife, Clorissa, of Woodstock, GA and great grand-children, Hope and Faith Roper; granddaughter, Alice Vainrib and husband, Andy of Cedartown, GA and great-children, Brody and Anna McKayne Vainrib; sister, Nivelle Bone of Durham, NC; sister-in-law, Elsie Lester, of Stockbridge, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Crook was a long time member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Stone Mountain. She worked at Sears & Roebuck for five years. During WWII, she worked for Corp of Engineers. She also worked in real estate and with her husband in the grocery business. She enjoyed being involved in many activities such as water skiing, golf, and playing bridge. She has lived a wonderful and full life. She will be truly missed, but we know she is at peace worshipping her King. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons on Wednesday, October 3rd at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Carmel Christian Church., 6015 Old Stone Mountain Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30087. The family will receive friends prior to the service, starting at 10:00 am at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home.
