Miss Laura Frances Phillips, age 92, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008. A long-time resident of Atlanta, Miss Phillips was the first female plant manager of Airco and retired after 42 years of service. She was a 54 year member of Druid Hills United Methodist Church and secretary for the Phillips Family Reunion for 57 years. She was the daughter of C. L. “Lint” Phillips, a DeKalb County Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty in 1932. Miss Phillips is survived by her niece, Linda Gardner; nephews, John Ross and his wife Eugenia, Gene Ross and his wife Karen; great nephews, Rev. Charles Gardner and his wife Shannon, John Ross and his wife Lindsey, Matthew Ross, Randy Ross and his wife, Anna, and Tommy Ross; great nieces, Kim Beasley and her husband Mark, Debbie Hosler and her husband Mark; great-great nephews and nieces, Zack McKinnon, Zack Gardener, Jack Ross, Alex Beasley, Abbie Beasley and Natalie Ross. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Druid Hills United Methodist Church with Dr. Rex Kaney and Rev. Charles Gardner officiating. Interment, Snellville Historical Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions to the Methodist Children’s Home, 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA 30030. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
