SCHROEDER, Moncrief
Mr. Moncrief Dupre Schroeder, Jr., 86, of Decatur died Sunday, October 25, 2009. He was born in Atlanta to Moncrief Dupre Schroeder, Sr. and Lottie Buffington Martin Schroeder and raised in Abbeville, SC where he was a 4 sport letterman playing football, baseball, basketball and capturing State Tennis title. Mr. Schroeder proudly served with the 517th Airborne Division during World War II. After being wounded in combat he received 2 Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He worked with the Seaboard Railroad as a machinist and was one instrumental in the transition from steam to diesel power. He retired from CDC as a machinist where he managed the power plant. He was a life long University of Georgia fan. Mr. Schroeder is survived by children, Patricia Lynn Stanelle and husband Ray, Richard Dupre Schroeder and wife Sai, David Pierce Schroeder and wife Sherri; and grandchildren, Sharon Stanelle White, Jenifer Baro and husband Harold, Rayman Dupre Stanelle and wife Holly, Shawn Ceppi and husband Eric, and David Schroeder, Jr. He was adored by 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 28th at A. S. Turner & Sons
