Mrs. Sarah Jimmerson Coleman of Atlanta died Saturday, August 13, 2005. She is a member of the Briarcliff Baptist Church. She graduated from Troy State Normal University, Troy, AL and Florida Southern University at Lakeland, FL. She held a master?s degree from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University at Nashville, TN; she also studied economics at Auburn University in 1928 and studied mathematics at Georgia Tech in 1931. She taught school at Clarkston, Georgia, and Lanett, Alabama. She had been a principal at Glen Haven, Scottdale, and Briarvista Schools. In 1952 she was chosen to the Court of Honor for ?Woman of the Year? in Delta Zeta Sorority, being one of the four women in the United States to receive this honor. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi, an honorary education fraternity; and Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary sorority. She was predeceased by her husband, James Edward Coleman, Sr., and her son, Charles R. Coleman. She is survived by her son, James E. Coleman, Jr. and his wife Jean, of Grayson, GA; four grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Coleman of Lilburn, GA, Dr. Jill Shannon Coleman of Watkinsville, GA, Charles R. Coleman, Jr., Alex Coleman; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Dee Coleman, all of Decatur, GA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning August 16th at 11 A. M. at the Briarcliff Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Bigger and Dr. Glen Waldrop will officiate. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park. Those desiring may send contributions to the Memorial Fund of Briarcliff Baptist Church, 3039 Briarcliff Road, Decatur GA 30033. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 P. M. to 8 P. M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
