Ms. Lydell F. Grey

Ms Lydell F. Grey passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 in Piedmont Hospital after a long illness with congestive heart failure. She graduated as class valedictorian from her Alabama high school in 1939. After moving to Atlanta in 1940 she attended Georgia State University where she met and later married her husband Herman Leigh Grey. The wedding was televised on NBC in April of 1954 and 58 years of marriage followed. Lydell's business career was centered in the retail industry and culminated as Executive Secretary to the CEO at Rich's Department Store in 1987. She remained an active retiree serving as a member of the Atlanta Women's Chamber of Commerce for several years and volunteered for ten years at Crawford Long Hospital Auxiliary. Throughout her life she attended and participated in the activities of her church, teaching Sunday School and young girls activities. She and Leigh were members of Second Ponce DeLeon Baptist Church. Dr. Charles Qualls will be officiating her service. Lydell was preceded in death by her husband Herman L. Grey (who passed away in January, 2012) and her parents William T. Fuller and Bettie M. Fuller. Surviving are her younger brother Newt Fuller and his wife Bobbie. Graveside services will be held at Westview Cemetery at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 9 2012.
