Mrs. Myrtice Louise Harper Flanders, age 95, of Snellville, formerly of Decatur and Norwood, GA died Wednesday, July 27, 2005. She was born in Taliaferro County, GA on April 24, 1910 to James Arch Harper and Myra Young Harper, who preceded her in death. She graduated in the early 1930's with a B.S. Degree in Education from Georgia State Teachers College. Mrs. Flanders taught elementary school in Norwood GA, and also taught at Tucker Elementary School in Tucker, GA. She was a member of Scott Blvd Baptist Church in Decatur, GA and a former member of Norwood Baptist Church, Norwood, GA. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jordan Flanders; step-son, Fred Flanders; and brothers, Derrell Harper, Alva Harper, Henry Harper, Earl Harper and Roger Harper. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Jack Eaton of Loganville, GA; granddaughters, Jean and her husband, Derek Bowles of Loganville, GA, Mary Lou and her husband, Tom Stergios of Missoula, MT; grandson, Hank and his wife, Debra Flanders of Springfield, TN; great grandchildren, Kristin Frazier, John Frazier, Megan Hightower, Andrew Bowles, Clara Stergios, Alex Stergios, Daniel, Jordan and Micaela Flanders. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA with Rev. T. Michael Davis and Rev. Joan Biles officiating. An additional funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 30th at Norwood Baptist Church with Mr. Tom Harwell and Mr. Billy Tucker officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Scruggs Cemetery in Norwood, GA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Scott Blvd Baptist Church, Decatur, GA or to Norwood Baptist Church, Norwood, GA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
