Myrtice Louise Jones Hembree

September 14, 1926 — April 25, 2019

Myrtice Louise Hembree, 92, of Covington, Georgia passed away April 24, 2019. She passed peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior, her late husband Tom and all her cherished loved ones who have gone before her, after a seven-year battle with Alzheimers. She was born to the late Joseph Thomas and Essie Jones on September 14, 1926 in Athens, Georgia.

The Best word to describe Myrtice is Devotion. Devotion to God and to Family. She loved unconditionally and was happiest when cooking for a Family Gathering or Church function. She and her late husband, Tom enjoyed working in the garden, nurturing flowers, watching them grow and blossom. Her favorite times were spent going to Church with Tom. Her commitment to reading the Bible, and praying for her lost loved ones to be saved was one of her greatest desires. Myrtice was a dedicated Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and Friend.

Survivors include her three daughters, Loretta Cohen, Janice Spears and Linda Hubbard and her husband, Bobby Hubbard; Robert Hoyt from her previous marriage; she married the late Thomas I. Hembree in November of 1983 and gained three sons, who she loved as her own: Mike Hembree and his wife Beth, Phillip Hembree and his wife, Brenda, Dennis Hembree and his wife, Lynn. Myrtice was a Grandmother to 18 and a Great Grandmother to 33. She is also survived by her sister, Ruby McCune,
and many nieces and nephews.

Myrtice was loved beyond measure and will be missed by all of her Family and Friends. We celebrate her going home to be with Jesus and all of her cherished loved ones who have passed before her.

A celebration of Myrtice’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at in the Chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home with a visitation starting at Noon prior to the service. Interment will be immediately following the service at Melwood Cemetery.

In loving memory of Myrtice and one of her favorite Bible verses, she would want you to rejoice.

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24       KJV
