Nancy Ellen Butler Allen, 91, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, January 17th, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Alice Nolan McCown Butler and Charles Grady Butler. A native of Decatur, she was a 1950 graduate of Decatur Girls High School. She attended the Georgia State College for Women and the Harrison Draughon Business School. She was a medical secretary and retired from the City Schools of Decatur after working 30 years as a secretary at Clairemont Elementary School. She was a former member of the Glenwood Jaycettes and Decatur Cotillion Club. She was also a former member of the Oakhurst Presbyterian Church where she was a choir member, Deacon, Elder, and a member of the Women of the Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of the Decatur Presbyterian Church where she had been a choir member and was an active member of the Presbyterian Women organization. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, H. Homer Allen, Jr. Nancy is survived by daughter, Betty A. and Richard W. Hopkins of Bishop, and son Henry H. (Buddy) Allen, III of Myrtle Beach, SC, grandchildren William and Emily Hopkins of Jefferson, Lindsey and Davey Pollack of Winder, Henry (Hank) Allen of Rhinelander, WI, Hunter Allen of Suwanee and great-grandchildren Carson Strube, Nicholas and Leah Pollack, Hannah, Valerie, Willy and Lindsey Hopkins, and new baby Henry Allen and a niece, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sisters Helen B. and Charles Darnell and Charlotte B. and Durward L. Rhodes, Sister-in law Harriet A. and William S. Burt, daughter-in-law Mary M. Allen, granddaughter Heather Allen Strube and niece Kelly Morrow. A family graveside burial service will be held at Decatur City Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Decatur Presbyterian Church on Thursday January 23rd at 3:00 PM, reception/visitation to follow.
