Betty (Nancy Elizabeth) Styles Hooker, of Decatur, GA, died peacefully after a brief illness, Friday, August 15, 2008. Born September 4, 1922, in Carroll County, GA. She is the daughter of the late Rev A.G. Styles and Fannie Horsley Styles. Mrs. Hooker attended WestGeorgiaCollege majoring in education. While rearing her 4 children she had a wonderful 30 year career as an Executive Assistant with the Baptist Home Mission Board in the Evangelism Department. She was a frequent international speaker with the pioneer lay renewal movement that bolstered marketplace witnessing and missions. She was avidly involved with the Reconciliation Networks of the World, battered women’s shelters, the Techwood Center of Atlanta and FBC of Avondale Estates. She will be sorely missed by her devoted family: daughters, Carol Hooker Stagliano and husband, Anthony C. Stagliano of San Francisco, CA, Nancy Hooker Martin and husband John R. Martin of Stone Mountain, GA, son, Michael Van Hooker of Gainesville, GA, daughter-in-law, Mary Claire Hooker of Watertown, NY, granddaughters, Mary Beth Hooker Samborski and husband Jeurik Samborski of Boston, MA, Frances Hooker of Augusta, GA, grandsons, Abraham Hooker and David James Hooker of Savannah, GA and Daniel Hooker of Watertown, NY, sisters, Mrs. Malone (Jean) Fuller of Bowdon, GA and Pauline Styles Teal of Johnson City, TN. Mrs. Hooker was preceded in death by her son, the late Col. David G. Hooker, Family Practitioner. Funeral services will be held Monday morning, August 18th at 11:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Avondale Estates. Interment Kansas Baptist Churchyard, Waco, GA at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FBC of Avondale Estates designated Battered Women’s Shelter. The family received friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:30 P.M. at A. S.
