Nell Heery Clower, 99, of Tucker, GA., (formally of Hapeville and East Point) died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. She was born near Hapeville GA, on December 22, 1909, the youngest child of Harry T. and Hattie Heery. A graduate of Fulton High School, she was employed by the Southern Banker Magazine and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s various businesses. She was a devoted mother, active in her children’s schools; a Sunday school teacher at Hapeville Methodist Church; a caregiver for her older siblings and relatives; and a loyal Atlanta Brave’s fan. She was a perfectionist at anything she did and kept her mind active by reading the newspaper, working word puzzles and handling her own business. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Henry Wright Clower and her daughter Betty C. Fowler. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Thomas and husband Lenard of Stone Mountain; son-in-law James Fowler and wife Carla of Richmond, British Columbia; brother Charles Heery and wife Rachel of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews. The entire family wishes to express their gratitude to her companions and caregivers, Lois Smith and Sarah Brown. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, at 2:30, at Sunrise Chapel at Arlington Memorial Park, the Rev. David Riley officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 26 from 2:00 to 4:00, A S Turner & Sons.
