Nell Purkey Salyer, 93, died peacefully at home on September 6, 2010. Mrs. Salyer was born August 23, 1917 in Glamorgan, Virginia to the late Worley and Minnie Purkey. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Salyer. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jim Wilson, Atlanta; her beloved granddaughter and her finance, Stephanie Wilson and Andrew Kokabi, Atlanta; her sister, Virlet Tipton, Charlotte, NC; her brothers-in-law, Jack Scott, Ararat, VA, Charles Salyer and Earnest Salyer, Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Nell was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of LaVista Woman’s Club and a member of Peachtree Baptist Church. Funeral services will be in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 11 A.M. Friday, September 10th. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be given to Peachtree Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, September 9th at A. S. Turner & Sons.
