Nelma McCurdy Cleland, of Cedartown and formerly of Mableton, died on Monday, November 22, 2004, after a lengthy illness. She was born on Apri1 24, 1919 in Dallas, GA, the daughter of Seaborn McCurdy and Frances Parson McCurdy. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. (Bud) Cleland, Sr. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and in 1980 presided as Worthy Matron of the Caledonia 121 Lodge, Cedartown, GA. Survivors include her children, William H. (Butch) Cleland, Jr. and wife Cathy, Cedartown, and LoDean Cleland Scoble and husband John, Huntsville, AL; sisters, Alta Pittman and husband Harry , Austell, and Reba Couey and husband Carl, Douglasville; and sister-in-law, Sarah Cleland Brown, Tucker. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Lori Scott and husband Tom, Athens, Dena Stockton and husband Meck, Decatur, and Leigh Montillot and husband Stefan, Barbizon, France; and two grandsons, Mark Cleland, Athens, and Chet Cleland, Cedartown. She is also survived by eight great- grand children. Pallbearers will be Mark Cleland, Chet Cleland, Tom Scott, and Meck Stockton. Graveside services will be held at Decatur City Cemetery on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 2:00 pm. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
