Mr. Nicholas Zingarelli, 87, of Decatur passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 21, 2010. He was born in Worcester, MA to the late Mauro and Grace Zingarelli. He was in the Marine Corps. during World War II and was in on the invasion of Guam. A 30 year member of Harold Byrd American Legion Post 66, he was Commander when the old building was torn down and the first Commander in the new building. He held all offices in the Post and was Judge Advocate for the 4th District. He was always ready to help veterans. He enjoyed going to the Atlanta VA and putting on Bingo games for the veterans in the nursing home. Survivors include his loving wife of almost 60 years, Ruth; his children, John Zingarelli and wife Cindy of Lilburn, Debra Sarah Zingarelli of Decatur; grandchildren, John Nicholas and David Zingarelli of Lilburn; sister, Mary Mastro of Shrewsbury, MA; brother, Carlo Zingarelli of Agawam, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 24. Burial will follow in Decatur Cemetery.
