Nicholas Michael Belluso

June 17, 1922 — November 3, 2007

Nick Belluso, 85, of Conyers, GA., died Nov. 3, 2007, after a fight with cancer. Born June 17, 1922 in Manteno, Ill, he was one of 10 Italian children and a devout Catholic his entire life. He was devoted to the Lord and His Mother, Mary, and was a firm believer in miracles. Much of his later years were spent at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, praying the rosary. He moved to Atlanta in 1955 and became a political activist. He was one of 8 charter members of the Young Voter's League of Atlanta. He worked on various political campaigns and wrote letters to the editors at AJC. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson Law School, LLB, where he was co-editor of The Verdict and Secretary-Treasurer, Sigma Delta Kappa. In later years, he would become a candidate for various Federal and State offices. His campaign platforms always contained Tax Relief across the board. In the 60's he worked for H&R block, teaching Tax classes and managing the East Point office, the top volume production office in Ga. He was recognized as outstanding manager in the region, with 800 offices in the organization. In the late 60's, he established his own firm, Knickerbocker Tax Systems, with offices in West End, Decatur and Hapeville. His client list included Corporations, Professional athletes, Religious, small businesses and individuals. During his semi-retirement years, Nick became a master of ceremonies at various clubs that featured music of the golden era. You would find Bob Fountain at the organ, former nightclub singers and individuals, including Nick, performing good music and having a good time. Nick loved his family and all children. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Rebecca. He is survived by his spouse, Virginia; sons, John (Ella) Belluso, Andy (Gerri) Belluso, Tom Belluso, Nick, Jr. (Jenny) Belluso and Tony Belluso; daughters, Deborah (Joe) Gunnells, Kammy (Mike) Alfonso, Kiri (Rodney) Cooper, and Nickie Ann Belluso. He is survived by 15 grandchildren; Ted Ward, Chris Lancaster, Marcy (Bruce) Skillin, Amy (Scot) Willingham, Mindy (Kevin) McLeod, Jake (Bree) Belluso, Drew Belluson, Mikey Belluso, Kristina Belluson, Jennifer (Mitch) McGhee, Blake Belluso, Alana Alfonso, Jackson Cooper, Rebecca Cooper, Bianca Belluso; 6 great grandchildren and Linda Lees. His only living sibling is John Francis (Billie) Belluso of Creve Couer, MO. A Funeral Mass will be held at The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 48 MLK Blvd., Atlanta, 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, with Monsignor Henry Gracz officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Outreach Ministry, 48 MLK Blvd., Atlanta, Ga. 30303 or Altus Hospice, 1 Dunwoody Park, Suite 128, Atlanta, Ga. 30338. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M., Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773
