Nick Paxton

Nick Paxton, age 90 of Decatur, passed away Saturday morning, May 14, 2005 after an extended illness.  He was born in Ithaca, Greece to Demosthenes and Zacharati Paxinos.  He served in the armies of the United States and Greece. He lived in the New York/New Jersey area most of his life where he was a restaurateur.  He moved to Decatur, Georgia 8 years ago.  He loved to garden and tend to his pansies.  He was a proud member of the Order of AHEPA Chapter 69 and Chapter 1.  Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Diana Montesantos Paxton of Decatur, GA; and sons and daughters-in-law, Demosthenes and Betsy Paxton of Baldwin, MD and Jerry and Mercedes Paxton of Grayson, GA; sister Meni Nicholas of Adelaide, Australia;  grandchildren, Carrie, Nicole and Michael Paxton; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation at 11:00 am with Father George Alexson and Father Paul Keriotis officiating.  Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation Pavilion Fund or to the AHEPA Scholarship Fund.  A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 pm and visitation from 6 to 8 pm at A. S. Turner and Sons.
