Nina Mae Hester Griggs

Nina Mae Hester Griggs, 79 years young, passed away December 4, 2011 at her home in Decatur, GA. She was born in Red Bay, AL, to the late Lother and Carrie Hester. She graduated from Auburn University and married Robert Brooks Griggs of Lagrange, GA in 1955. Nina worked for Firestone in Glendale, CA, then practiced homemaking and graduated to become a beloved mother and grandmother. Many who knew her took encouragement from her strength in the face of multiple handicaps that began in the prime of her life and she thanked God everyday for all her blessings. She always had a kind word for anyone she passed and enjoyed art, flowers, reading, gourmet cooking, music, dancing, and writing. She was whole heartedly dedicated to her family and friends, always staying in touch with letters then email. She is survived by her husband, Brooks, her son, Lane Brooks Griggs MD, of Chattanooga, TN, her daughter, Gloria Ann Griggs, of Braselton, GA, and three grandchildren, Kayla, Ridley, and Tyler. Nina was preceded in death by her son, Keith Hester Griggs of Cornelia, GA. Memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, December 10th at A.S. Turner and Sons, located at 2273 N.
