Olin Eugene Hay

Mr. Olin Eugene “Gene” Hay, 77, of Oxford, died September 24, 2010. A native of Atlanta, Mr. Hay was a 1952 graduate of Roosevelt High School and later attended the University of Georgia. He served his country from 1953 -1954 in the U. S. Army. Mr. Hay was a long-time employee of Beck & Gregg Hardware and later a manufacturer’s rep for Town Square and Southern Manor furniture companies. For over 50 years, he and his wife were members of The Assembly of God Tabernacle in Atlanta and Decatur. An avid golfer, he was a long-time committeeman of the USGA where he was responsible for the National Public Links of Georgia qualifier. As a junior golfer, Mr. Hay was ranked third in the nation. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bobbie Rapier Hay; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Renee Hay of Tampa, FL and Stephen and Tiffany Hay of Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 27, 2010 at The Tabernacle with Rev. Robbie Bailey and Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Interment, Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Saturday and 2-5 PM Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
