Ona (Ellen Lehman) Freedman Stanley

Ona (Ellen Lehman) Freedman Stanley, 63 of Decatur, GA, passed away on April 5th, 2012. She was born April 27, 1948 in Williamsport, PA, daughter of Martha and Daniel Lehman. While on a church trip to Gulf Shores, Florida she met her husband Bill who was instantly smitten by her beauty and spirit. Married November 26, 1994, their love brought together not only themselves, but their families. Ona's passion and life-long work in dressmaking and clothing design began as a young girl when she made custom clothing for her dolls. A consummate teacher and mentor, she shared her love of life and learning with family and many close friends. She also loved cooking for her family and friends, and worked tirelessly to perfect the family fudge recipe and pass it down to her children and grandchildren.

Ona is predeceased by her father Daniel Lehman, she is survived by her husband Bill Stanley, her son and daughter-in-law Dan and Amy Freedman of Buellton, CA; her granddaughter and grandson Sierra Jocelyn and Benjamin Connor, her son and daughter-in-law Seth and Jamie Freedman of Roswell, GA; grandson Benjamin Henry, stepdaughter and son-in-law Michelle and John Monahan of Fayetteville, NC; grandchildren John Jr., Matthew, Madelyn, and Will; great-grandson Kaden, stepson and daughter-in-law Trent and Beth Stanley of Sugar Hill, GA; grandchildren Tyler and Garrett, her mother and brother Martha Lehman, and Robert Gay of Sodus, NY. Numerous dear friends and extended family are also bereaved by her loss, and will cherish always their fond memories of her.

A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 10th at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, in Atlanta. Ona requested that celebrants of her life make donations on her behalf to American Cancer Society.
