Oscar Gordan Jones

August 2, 1924 — July 2, 2007

Mr. Oscar Gordon Jones of Tucker died Monday, July 2, 2007. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the 14th U. S. Army Air Corps from 1943-1945 in China. He was awarded the Air Medal and The Distinguished Flying Cross.  He graduated from Iowa State University in 1950 and worked as a statistician with CDC retiring in 1980. Mr. Jones was an active member of the Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church and was active in the Boy Scouts. He touched the lives of numerous youths and adults in the Atlanta Area. He is survived by his wife, Montise Jones; son, Jeff Jones of Fredericksburg, VA; 5 step daughters, Viva Boyett of Stone Mountain, Vickie Barnes, Erwin, TN, Dianne Poland of Marietta, Suzanne Harp of Roswell, Angela Talias of Marietta; 2 grandsons, Nicholas Barnes of Nashville, TN, Micheal Buffum of Fredericksburg, VA; brothers, Guy Jones of Raleigh, NC, Howard Jones of Haverhill, MA; several nieces and nephews; and special son, Daud Hassan of Clarkston, GA.
