Ovid Sylvester Campbell, 80, of Atlanta, Georgia, died August 17, 2008. Born in Grafton, WV June 19, 1928 to William Riley Campbell and Margaret Rose Benton Campbell, Ovid was predeceased by all his siblings, Benton Campbell, Kittanning PA; Corrine Campbell and John Campbell, Volga WV; and Julia Ann Glendenning, Philippi, WV, and by his second wife, June Olson Rogers Campbell. He is survived by five children: Janet Coral Campbell of San Francisco, CA, Linda Ruth Campbell Mazunik and husband John Mazunik of Marion, IA; David Keith Campbell of Fairmount, GA; Thomas Matthew and wife Dr. Petra Leipert Campbell of Ebermannstadt, Germany; Timothy Mark and wife Angela Aguilar Campbell of Tucker, GA. He is also survived by first wife, Evelyn Kistler London of Tucker and by eight grandchildren: Evan Mazunik, Brooklyn, NY; Greg Mazunik, Coralville, IA; Damaris, Arwen, Christina, and Valerie Campbell of Ebermannstadt, Germany; and David and Marcos Campbell, Tucker, GA. He is also survived by three stepsons and their families: Douglas & Kathy Rogers and sons David and Paul, Cleveland, OH; Derik & Beth Rogers and son Jack, Marietta, GA; Bruce & Camille Rogers and daughters Hope and Faith, Statesboro, GA. Ovid served 4 years in the Air Force and flew as C-47 crew chief during nine passes through mushroom clouds to collect air samples from Nevada Test Site. He was a flight engineer for Eastern Air Lines, then became a Lockheed Georgia C-130 technical rep assigned to Pope AFB, and finally was an air carrier maintenance inspector for 26 years out of Atlanta FAA Flight Standards District Office. Viewing will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA , on Friday, August 22, 2008, 6:00–8:00 p.m. and before the funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 23rd , John Mazunik officiating. Burial will be in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA on Monday, August 25th at 11:00 am.
