Pamela Denese Zakas, 52, of Atlanta, died September 13, 2009. She is survived by her partner, Michelle Davis of Atlanta, and her loving aunt, Betty Zakas of Atlanta. She was predeceased by her father, George D. Zakas; her mother, Dorothea Guthrie; and her aunt, Tassie Zakas. Also surviving are sisters, Tasia Walsh of Charleston, SC and Anna (Tom) McManus of Cumming, GA; a brother, D.G. “Charlie” (Julie) Zakas of Norcross, GA; and stepmother, Mary Zakas Moore of Duluth, GA. Additional survivors include uncle and aunt, Lou and Deppie Zakas of Atlanta; first cousin, Dennis (Martie) Zakas of Atlanta; and Godmother, Toula Scondras of Atlanta. She was particularly fond of her nieces and nephews, Ryan Walsh, Greg Walsh, Katie McManus, Brian McManus, Austin Zakas and Blair Zakas. Denese was a very loving person who was known for her eagerness to help others. She was an accomplished painter and avid gardener. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11:00am at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation at 2500 Clairmont Road NE, Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society, 981 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta GA 30318. A.S. Turner & Sons is in charge of arrangements.
