PATRICIA AILEEN WALTON was born and lived her entire 92 years in the Atlanta, Georgia area, where she attended elementary school, high school, and college. She received three degrees from Georgia State University (BA, MEd, and Education Specialist) and was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
She was employed by various companies in Atlanta until she found her love of teaching and she then spent the next 20 plus years teaching gifted students in the Henry County School System. After retiring from the school system, she enjoyed participating in and teaching or leading Bible studies at church.
Pat loved to travel and went on many trips to beautiful places in the United States. Many years ago, as a young woman, she took her elderly grandmother on a train trip from Atlanta to California to visit her grandmother's son. She visited several places in other parts of the world, including England, Mexico, Jordan, Ireland, and elsewhere. It was exciting for her to visit Ireland because she has Irish ancestors. Years later she joined the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution (Baron DeKalb Chapter).
She traveled to the Holy Land with one of her Bible study groups and shared her story with everyone who would listen.
She loved to read and kept a logbook of each title, author, and her opinion of the book. She especially loved mystery or detective books. She preferred to borrow books from the library rather than purchasing them at the bookstore.
AND PAT LOVED HER FAMILY. She loved her sister and her brother-in-law, Mary Gene and Jim Lee, and stayed in close touch with them all through the years. She loved their children Jennifer and Kevin and Jeremy. Pat attended their graduations, sports events and weddings (Jennifer and Sean; Kevin and Kelly; Jeremy and Melissa) and was standing by to hold her grand nieces and nephews as they arrived: Jacob and Rachel Lee, Shaé and Sean Lee, Donald and Micah Venn. She was around to watch them grow from infants to adults and for the younger ones to grow from infants to now teenagers.
She stayed in touch with her stepson Charlie Coles, his wife, Zandra, and family, as well as her many cousins and close friends whom she loved.
