Patricia Campbell, 79, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2024. Patricia (Pat) was born on March 1, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Norman David Campbell and Mary Andrews Campbell. She is preceded in death by her sisters Betty Jean Campbell and Charlotte Campbell. She is survived by many beloved cousins and cherished friends who loved her deeply and will miss her terribly.
As a young child, Pat lived in Corpus Christi and then moved to Moultrie, Georgia. She finally landed in Bulloch County, where she graduated from Statesboro High School in 1963. She took courses at the University of Georgia and Reinhardt University and later worked at Bulloch Memorial Hospital as a nursing administrative assistant and health educator. She eventually moved to Lawrenceville, Georgia to live with Charlotte.
Pat loved T-shirts with witty sayings, playing weekly games of Canasta with friends, and mastering every jigsaw puzzle like a ninja. She was also a deftly skilled French horn player and was offered a full scholarship to the University of Florida. Pat's greatest passion, though, was caring for animals. She enjoyed working several years at Charlotte's pet sitting business Waggin' Wheels as well as doting on her own darling rescue cat Tater.
Pat had a gregarious sense of humor, dry wit, and always went out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. Her love for others, especially for those in her Delmar Gardens family, was always clear, transparent, and palpable. Pat absolutely made sure people were seen, cared for, and loved unconditionally. One of Pat's greatest joys was sharing her favorite poem. She kept wallet-sized copies of B.M. Franklin's The Weaver on hand for those who touched her heart:
My life is just a weaving / Between my Lord and me. / I cannot choose the colors / He weaves so skillfully. / Sometimes He weaveth sorrow / And I in foolish pride / Forget He sees the upper And I the underside. / Not 'til the loom is silent / And the shuttles cease to fly / Will God unroll the canvas / And explain the reasons why / The dark threads are as needful, / In The Weaver's skillful hands / As the threads of gold and silver / In the pattern He has planned.
A celebration of life is not scheduled at this time. You can stay in touch with Kelly Thompson and Pat's family at tkellann2@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Atlanta Humane Society in memory of Pat.
