Patricia Diane Gaines passed away on Tuesday October 8, 2013 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Atlanta on May 9, 1946 to the late Olive and Bill Gaines. Pat attended Garden Hills Elementary School and graduated from The Westminster Schools. She attended Oglethorpe University and was a member of the 1966-67 Atlanta Debutante Club. Earlier in her professional career, Pat worked in Atlanta at Wachovia Bank and in accounting at the law offices of King and Spalding. For the past several years she was employed in the accounting department of Ryerson, Inc. in Duluth, GA. Pat is survived by her loving fiancé, David Hoffmann of Duluth, who was her primary caregiver during her recent illness. She is also survived by her devoted son and his wife, Lee and Tina Wiggins Smith, precious granddaughters, Parker Smith and Taylor Wiggins, all of McDonough, GA; her sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Walter Sturdivant of Atlanta; sister, Olive Gaines of Kingston, TN; nephews, Whitney O'Keeffe, Jr. of Chicago, IL, Davis O'Keeffe (Karla) and Calvin O'Keeffe (Celia) of Atlanta. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 12, in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
