Patti Margaret Ryan was born on March 2nd, 1954 and she died exactly 68 years later the evening of her birthday March, 2, 2022. She leaves behind her an endless trail of love. Patti made friends and family literally everywhere she went; in many ways she was like a mother to the world. She was witty and resourceful and creative, and she made one hell of a cheesecake. She was also one of the kindest and most generous people you will ever meet, like give-you-the-shirt-off-of-her-back-kind. She was born in Memphis, TN to Frances Martha Ryan and Vincent Joseph Ryan, both of whom are with her on the other side. She has two sisters: Pamela Matilda Ryan and Stephanie Marie Ryan; Patti is now delightfully reunited with Pam who passed away in 2016, and Stephanie is here carrying on their memory. Patti was formerly married to John Hathorn and they had one daughter, Mercer Hathorn. Mercer was Patti’s greatest pride and joy; she, too, is carrying Patti’s spirit onward. Patti was also survived by her beloved granddog, Charlie Cate, and had a deep love for all animals and four-legged friends. While Patty had a small biological family, she had a friend-family bigger than the sky. Our guess is that if you’re reading this, she considered you family.
There will be many events to honor Patti’s life.
Please come and celebrate her life with us at the first of many gatherings this Saturday March 12, 2022 at Stephanie’s residence. You can join in person or via zoom (https://zoom.us/j/9962713046?pwd=Sit3WktrQ1J2UjVkRFJ3dmxXT1REUT09)
Patti would have wanted us all to gather safely with masks, hug each other, and eat some good food. Please bring something if you want to but your presence is what matters most. Stephanie’s address is 655 Stokeswood Ave SE Atlanta, GA 30316. The gathering will begin at 4pm and go until it goes. We will have
folks get together, love on each other, perhaps take a plant or a “sussie” that reminds them of Patti, and even squeeze in a cajun dance to celebrate her love of dance. Stephanie lives in the East Atlanta Village and there are many, many restaurants within walking distance of Stephanie’s home where people can get dinner when they’re ready.
