Paul Chapman Parker was born August 3, 1944 in Cartersville, Georgia to the late Mary Grace Bowen and O. Paul Parker. He attended Georgia Military Academy and was a 1962 graduate of Marietta High School. After a brief stint at the University of Georgia, he graduated from Georgia State College with a degree in Economics with a concentration in banking, receiving his CPA. Paul briefly taught economics at Georgia State while pursuing his Master's degree but was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in the Big Red One in Vietnam in 1967-69. He bought, renovated and sold houses while attending John Marshall Law School. He passed the Bar in 1978. Paul C. Parker & Associates was located on Church Street in Decatur from 1982 to 2002 when the firm moved to Decatur Town Center. Paul C. Parker was a pioneer in legal advertising and was one of the first attorneys to advertise on television. He lived in central DeKalb County and Daytona Beach, Florida. He enjoyed playing golf with his sons and spending time with his family. Paul is survived by his wife of 23 years, Catherine Kelly Parker; son Ken Parker and wife Sonya of Buford; son Eric Parker of San Clemente, California; and son Matt Parker and wife Barbara of Flowery Branch; three grandchildren: Sarah, Jack and Jason Parker; three brothers: Robert Parker of Boca Raton, Florida; Gary Parker of Greenville, Tennessee and Bill Parker of Merritt Island, Florida; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 5th, Rev. Greg Bergner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
