Paul D. Cooke, 93, of Brunswick, formerly of Decatur, GA, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Hospice of the Golden Isles.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, February 12, 2010 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Carl


Barnhardt officiating.  Interment will take place 2:00 PM Monday, February 15, 2010 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Decatur, GA.



 



Born July 20, 1916 in Lincoln County, North Carolina to the late Fred W. and Eva Lee Nicholson Cook, he was a retried exterminator for Decatur Exterminating Company and had served as a ferry pilot during WWII.  He had resided in Glynn County, Georgia, since 2005 and was a member of Emanuel United Methodist Church in Brunswick and was a former member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA.  He was a former member of The Decatur Civic Chorus and enjoyed horticulture as a hobby.  His specialties were chrysanthemums and orchids.  Mr. Cooke showed his flora on national levels and also served as a judge at flower shows.  He was also an avid garden model railroader and enjoyed woodworking and making jewelry with his late wife, Miriam Pritchard Cooke.  In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Cook and Fred Cook and two sisters, Martha Smith and Mary Stewart.



 



Survivors include a sister, Isabel C. Van Over of Brunswick, several nieces and nephews including, Chris Stewart, Liz Jones and Joe Fowler all of Brunswick, Hannah Jackson of Griffin and several great nieces and nephews.



 



The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles or Emanuel United Methodist Church.
