Paul Frederick Koch, most recently of Big Canoe, Georgia, died peacefully on November 23, 2014. He was 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen Jean Ford Koch. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Ratliff, Nancy Ketchum, and Susan Barron. In addition, he leaves behind seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, all of whom knew him fondly as Papa.
Koch was born in Clarkston, Georgia on January 14, 1924, the son of Edwin and Dorothea Koch. After serving as an anti-submarine pilot with the United States Navy in World War II, Koch graduated from the University of Georgia. He had a long career in agricultural chemicals and seed until his retirement. He enjoyed an active retirement in Mississippi, Louisiana, North and South Carolina before returning to Georgia earlier this year.
A celebration of his life will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 26, 2014 with interment in Melwood Cemetery, Stone Mountain, GA. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 am Wednesday prior to the service at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur, GA.
