Paul George Varelas, age 66, died June 1, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia, with his family by his side.
Paul was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Varelas. He is survived by his sister, Vangie Dennis, brother-in-law, Richard Dennis, nephew, Christian Paschall, and nieces, Nicole Johnson and Kathryn Dennis. Paul resided with JoAnne Mertzanis, his first cousin, whom he loved dearly. Paul’s family and friends knew him only as a kind and mild-mannered man and he devoted much of his time and energy to his family.
Paul served in the Army during the Vietnam War, and was always proud to have supported his country. He was an active member of several programs offered by the Veteran’s Administration. He loved playing the guitar and completed the “Guitar for Vets” Program at the Veteran’s Administration.
Paul also Volunteered at the Northlake Gardens Facility helping the staff where ever help was needed.
The family will be receiving friends, Friday June 4, 2021 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of A.S. Turners & Sons on Saturday, June 5th at 12:30pm. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society. A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
