Pauline F. Smyke

May 17, 1925 — March 27, 2017

Pauline (Polly) Ferrell Smyke, 91, passed away on Monday, March 27 at Montclair Assisted Living. She was born in Spiro, Oklahoma and was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Ferrell and Mammie VanMetter and her beloved Aunt Jewel, whom she considered her mother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Smyke Sr.; and son, Kenneth Raymond Smyke.

Polly was the matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her four children, Daphne Smyke Davis (Alex), Edward Smyke Jr., Tricia Smyke Million and Lisa Smyke Berthelsen. Additionally, she had 10 beloved grandchildren, Amy Davis Morris (Kirk), Taylor Davis (Kelly), Kyle Davis (Leslie), Brooke Million O'Donnell (Sean), Caitlin Smyke Epstein (Scott), Katherine Million Welch (Nicholas), CJ, Molly, Ryan and Chandler, and 7 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jacob, Kate, Charlie, Jonathan, Brooks and Michael.

She spent the majority of her life in Decatur, Georgia caring for her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons and a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A private graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Savannah Chapter at 340 Eisenhower Drive, Suite 220, Savannah, GA 31406.
