Pauline (Polly) Lowery Wright, 97, a longtime Decatur resident passed away on March 15, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jesse Emmett Wright. Both Polly and her husband were raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Polly was born in 1911 near Clanton, Alabama. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Survivors include her two sons, Joseph L. Wright and daughter-in-law Carole, and C. James Wright and daughter-in-law Carol. Also surviving are her much loved grandchildren Joanna Wright Wille (husband John), David L. Wright (wife Alex), Lucy Lane Wright Horlock (husband Bill), and Christopher J. Wright; and great-grandchildren, Grace, Will, and Carol Clair Horlock, and Will, Adam, and Colin Wright. Polly is also survived by her brother, Cecil Murrah; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Noon, CST, on Wednesday, March 18th in Birmingham, Alabama at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur, GA 30030 or Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Rd., Decatur, GA 30033.
