Pauline South Cook Hynson peacefully went to Heaven Monday, November 1, 2010 in the home of her son. Pauline was born August 29, 1920 in Conyers, GA, the third child of Leander Franklin Cook and Ethleen South Cook. She moved to Atlanta at an early age and resided in the Virginia Highland and East Atlanta areas moving to Stone Mountain in 1970 then to Shreveport, LA in 2005. She was a long standing member of Inman Park United Methodist Church, Atlanta, GA, where she played piano, was relief organist and sang in the chancel choir. She was a charter member of the Triangle Class and recipient of the Crimson Rose honor for her church interests. In the 1940's she worked for Delta Airlines then retired to raise her children. After the boys were grown she returned to work, first at The Atlanta Journal Constitution then at Lanier Business Products. In 1978 she was elected Woman of the Year by the Gate City Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ethleen Cook; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Otis Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Martha Cook, infant brother Bobby Lee Cook; husband Herbert Floyd Hynson; son Stephen Lee Hynson and son, Richard Kimberly Hynson. She is survived by her son Herbert Rodney Hynson and wife Susan of Shreveport, LA and their family; Amy Holmes, husband Parker and children Finnegan, Bess and Crawford of Cary, NC; Jill Murphy and husband Steve and children Caleb and Ethan of Ruston, LA; Michael Hynson and wife Korie and children Riley and Reagan of Shreveport, LA ; daughter-in-law Bonnie Hynson Powell and husband Steve of Conyers, GA and their family; Heather Bennett and children Michaela and Noah of Loganville, GA; Holly Stamps and husband Bobby and son Powell of Atlanta, GA and Hayley Robinson and husband Chase and children Nicolas and Ansley of Braselton, GA; sister-in-law Peggy Hynson, Atlanta, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Visitation will be held at A. S. Turner and Sons 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA, on Friday November 5 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with funeral services Saturday November 6 at 11:00 AM at Turner's chapel, graveside service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta, GA. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Nelson, Inman Park United Methodist Church.
