Paxton Elliott Brewster died on November 23, 2007 at Emory University Hospital after an extended illness. Paxton was born in Monroe, NC on June 9, 1923, the daughter of Parks and Clara Elliott. She was the loving, devoted wife of 55 years of Eldon Brewster. She was preceded in death by her daughter Benita Brewster and by her brother Parks Elliott, Jr. She attended Flora McDonald College and graduated from WCUNC (now UNC at Greensboro) in 1944. She moved to Atlanta in 1948 and worked for Reconstruction Finance at Fort McPherson until her marriage to Eldon. She is survived by her husband Eldon, her sister Theo E. Taylor, sister-in-law Jane Elliott, nephews Rob Taylor, Parks Taylor and Tom Taylor, niece Brenda Taylor Smith and six grand nieces and two great nephews. Extended family of Eldon, Paxton and Benita are Sally and Paul Rosser and Goddaughter Carey. She was lovingly cared for in the past few years by caretakers Priscella Thibadeaux and Laura Person. Paxton has touched the lives of many. Her generous heart inspired and comforted everyone. She was active in her church, a faithful Sunday School teacher and member of Congregational Care. She and Eldon traveled extensively throughout their marriage with every day chronicled in pictures and narrative for all on the trip to enjoy. She worked for and supported the Lion's Club in all their efforts. She reached out to all her neighbors, supporting, feeding and helping each in turn. She was a wonderful wife and mother, always there for family and family included all those blessed to be drawn in by her warmth and generosity. Paxton brought joy to every life she touched. Services will be conducted by the Dr Stephen M. Huntley and Pastor Dave Seifried at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 N. Decatur Road at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 26, 2007 followed by interment at Floral Hills Memory Garden in Tucker. In lieu of flowers contributions may be m.ade to: Fountainview Personal Care Home (3675 Kensington Rd, Decatur, GA 30032) or to the Benita Brewster Cystic Fibrosis Camp Fund (c/o Atlanta Community Foundation, 50 Hurt Plaza, Atlanta, GA 30303). The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
