Peggy Jean (Dooley) Taylor

September 3, 1946 — September 28, 2019

Peggy Jean (Dooley) Taylor, 73, of Stone Mountain, GA, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019, surrounded by her close family, at Eastside Medical Center. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Taylor, also of Stone Mountain; her parents, DeWitte and Genie Dooley, of Clarkston; a sister, Linda Dooley, formerly of Clarkston; and a beloved great-nephew.

Peggy is survived by daughters: Stephanie Taylor Bledsoe (Scott) of Roswell, and Cynthia Taylor, of Stone Mountain; granddaughter, Grace Bledsoe, of Roswell; siblings: Carole Long (Marvin) of Madison, Johnny Dooley (Mary Jane) of Lawrenceville, and Kenny Dooley (Debra) of Hartwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a plethora of friends.

Peggy was a graduate of the Clarkston High class of 1964, where she played on the women’s basketball team. She was a retiree of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after 37 years of meritorious service and received commendation for such. She was an active member of the community, playing ALTA tennis and supporting numerous youth sports programs. Peggy loved nothing more than watching her daughters, nieces and nephews play ball! She was a HUGE fan of UGA football and college basketball. In the last several years, she loved her rescue dog, Murphy. He was one of her last loves. She so enjoyed spending time with her Dooley, Taylor, CHS, and CDC families. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her precious granddaughter, creating new memories watching her play soccer, the viola, and all the other activities Grace was interested in.

Peggy was a wonderfully devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. All who had the honor of knowing her could not help but to love her.

While we will always miss her dimpled smile, the legacy of her laughter, the warmth of her hug, and the depth of her heart will remain with us always.

The family invites you to come and stay, or drop in to share your joys, stories, and memories from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur, GA.
