Peggy J. Cox died Tuesday, November 16, 2010. She was 79, a long time Atlanta native, she was married to Walter S. Langguth, who predeceased her in 1957. She was married to William S. Cox, III who predeceased her in 2001. She is survived by three stepchildren, William S. Cox, IV and wife Ann, Decatur, Judge Frank R. Cox and wife, Tamara, Marietta, Susan Cox Cardell and husband Owen, Greenville, SC. She is survived by five grandchildren, Elizabeth Guevara Griffin and husband Raymond, Atlanta, Bradford F. Cardell and wife Michelle, Greenville, SC, Meredith Cardell Houston and husband Charles, Atlanta, Evan W. Cardell and wife Cara, Knoxville, TN, and Matthew Cox, Marietta. She is survived by two great-grandchildren, Albrecht and Lawton Cardell. The family is grateful to the wonderful caregiver, Rosemarie Wilkerson. Mrs. Cox graduated from Miami High School, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia and a Masters degree in Library Science from Peabody Library School in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Cox was a librarian for the city of Atlanta and her later years was a librarian for the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. She adored books and was an avid bridge player. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Clairmont Place chapel, 2100 Clairmont Lake, Decatur, GA 30033. Those desiring may send contributions to the Clairmont Place Memorial Fund at the same address or a charity of one’s choice.
