Peggy Rosentreter, of Stone Mountain, GA., passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA. She was born on November 25, 1930, in Rochester, N.Y., where she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Rosentreter, in 1950. As her three children grew older, Peggy got her associates degree in nursing at Monroe Community College. She worked in nursing for about 20 years, both private duty and as a staff nurse at several facilities. Peggy even helped take care of her mother while working at Kirkhaven, a Rochester senior care facility.
Peggy and her husband started a new life in Atlanta in 1994, but that came with the challenge of breast cancer. She survived the treatments and appeared in a fashion show for Bosom Buddies. Peggy began an active retirement of volunteering, including working with her husband to assist the St. Vincent de Paul Society, delivering lunches to shut-ins and starting a funeral ministry at her church. Peggy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, as evidenced by her visits with her husband to all 50 state capitols. Peggy was an avid antique collector and organized many popular yard sales. She also enjoyed reading, horror movies and hosting large family visits.
She is survived by her husband Jim, daughters Donna Kalikow (married to Martin Kalikow), Mary Ann Bullis (married to Neil Bullis, Jr.), son Bob (married to Susan Rosentreter), granddaughters Deborah Kalikow Keenan (married to Aaron Keenan), Jessie Kalikow, Jeanine Kalikow, Jody Bullis, Stephanie Bullis and great grandsons Wesley Keenan and Sammy Keenan.
