Peggy Speegle

Margaret Mary "Peggy" Speegle, 62, of Lawrenceville, died April 21, 2011. A native of N. Bangor NY, Mrs. Speegle was one of 13 children of Myrtle Russell and Ira Cherrier. She was a 1966 graduate of Brushton-Moira Central School and earned her Associate of Applied Science degree from Canton ATC, Canton NY, Class of 1968. After 1976, Peggy moved with her daughter to the Atlanta area, where she started her own bookkeeping firm. Peggy quickly developed a base of clients, many of which she maintained for decades through her professionalism and caring friendship. Although completely committed to her work, she devoted untold hours to sewing, crocheting or quilting various items for wearing, displaying or staying warm, all of which were given to her family and friends unconditionally. Peggy was Nana to her two grandchildren, whom she loved immensely. They were the stars of her life. Peggy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Eddie Walters; granddaughter, Bailey Rebecca Walters; grandson, Matthew Russell Walters, all of Dacula; sisters, Teresa Snyder of Brushton NY, Jean Brown of Escalon CA, Beatrice Reardon of Bombay NY, Kathleen Wells of Santa Rosa CA, Ruth Elmer of Massena NY, Mary Elizondo of Milpedus CA and Rosemary Cooper of Concord GA; brothers, Michael Cherrier of Cleveland OH, Patrick Cherrier of Malone NY and Joseph Cherrier of Malone NY; many cousins, nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Snellville, with Dr. Jeff Gongwer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Student area at the church.
