Philip F. Heisler

December 30, 1936 — July 26, 2022

Philip F. Heisler died peacefully on Tuesday, July 26th, 2022. He was born December 30th, 1936, in Atlanta and grew up in Little Five Points, Georgia.


Phil graduated from Bass High School and a football letterman at Furman University.  He earned an insurance degree from Georgia State University.


He is survived by his son, Chris (Christina) and his two grandsons Zach & Cooper and granddaughter Sydney, all from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Phil is also survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews.


Phil was a lifelong member of The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer on Peachtree Road in Atlanta, where he served as head usher for many years.


Phil was an outstanding prep while at Bass High School earning all-state honors in football and baseball.  He earned a place in the record books for his third quarter kick-off return while at Furman against opposing Clemson in 1955. He played on 14 softball and bowling championship teams in Orlando and Atlanta.


He loved all dogs, cats, a variety of music and working crossword puzzles.


Phil loved his family most of all and he always enjoyed their annual family reunions in St. Simons and Jekyll Islands.
