Filomena Marie Iannotti ("Phyllis") Rix was born December 12, 1923 in Providence, RI and died on July 2, 2008 in Atlanta, GA after a long illness. She married and divorced Fred Gunn, and in 1955 married Robert William Rix, who died in 1983. In 1961, she and Bob both joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by seven children: Fred Phillip Gunn, Charline Marie Stumps, Thomas Nelson Gunn, Carl Frances Gunn, Tia Michele Rix, Anna Elizabeth Stork, and Kim Marie Causey. A daughter, Leah Rachelle Stambro, died last year. Phyllis is also survived by her brother, Robert Iannotti, nephews Paul and Gerald Iannotti, 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Phyllis Rix was renowned as a big-band and jazz singer. In her heyday in the 1940s-60s, she toured throughout the Eastern seaboard. She continued to sing in Atlanta through the 1980s, and is especially remembered for her favorite rendition of "Georgia on My Mind," as arranged by her beloved husband, Bob. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 5 at 1:30 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1947 Brockett Rd., Tucker. Interment Dawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at A. S. Turner & Sons. All friends are invited to Phyllis's memorial jam session on Monday, July 7, 8-12 P.M. at the Brockett Building.
