Polly Burns Fowler

March 25, 1919 — August 22, 2011

Polly Burns Fowler was the daughter of Nora Lee Williams and James Monroe Burns of Carrollton, Ga. She attended Carrollton Public schools and after attending Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Ga., she received her degree in secretarial services. Upon graduation, she worked for J. L. Smith as a legal secretary and later was secretary to Major M. C. Wiley, superintendent of Carrollton Public Schools. In 1941she married John A. Fowler, Jr. of Bowden, Ga. They resided in Savannah, Ga. and later in Enid, Oklahoma during her husband's service in the Air Force Medical Administrative Corps. After his discharge, they resided in Atlanta, Ga. until her death. She is preceded in death by her husband, John A. Fowler, Jr. and son Stephen Burns Fowler. She is survived by her sons John A. Fowler, III and Robert M. Fowler, daughter in law Cindy Fowler, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Internment is at Arlington Cemetery on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
