R. Van Young

R. Van Young passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice, family and friends July 13, 2023. Born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on April 21, 1945, he is preceded in death by his parents, William B. Young and Florence S. Young, an older brother, Edwin S. Young, and wife of 41 years, Elizabeth (Libby) Young. Surviving him are his wife of 12 years, Linda B. Rogers, and her son, Chris H. Rogers (Christine); daughters, Molly E. Monaco (Dave), Maggie S. Young (Derek), and seven (7) grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and his brothers, John R. Young of Louisville, and William B. Young of Jasper Alabama. In 1963 he graduated from Atherton High School and was a 1967 Centre College graduate. Van was a member and twice Co-Captain of the football team, DKE Social Fraternity, ODK Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities, National History Society and Student Government (Social Chairman). He was a 1970 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Law. He practiced for 36 years as a partner with Greenebaum Doll Matthews and Boone, and of counsel to Romines Weis & Young in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the Louisville Bar Association, Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky Court of Appeals, Kentucky Supreme Court, U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, The U.S. 4th and 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court, the Louisville Boat Club, Harmony Landing Country Club, and Second Presbyterian Church. Charitable gifts may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research, Hospice of Georgia or donor's choice. According to is wishes, he will be cremated and inured at the time, place and date to be determined in Kentucky
