Rachael O. Newbill

Mrs. Rachael O. Newbill, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008. She was born on November 21, 1933 in Mullens, S.C. to Ashley B. Owens and Agnes Grant Owens. Mrs. Newbill was a 1954 graduate of Furman University and taught in the public school system for over 30 years. She was a Reading Specialist in DeKalb County until her retirement in 1994. Mrs. Newbill was an avid reader and loved gardening. She is survived by her husband, Col. James P. Newbill, USA Ret.; daughter, Linda Schurz of Poquoson, VA; Virginia Sharitz of Mableton, GA; son, James H. Newbill of Tucker, GA; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 20th at 7:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Interment will be at the Newbill Family Cemetery in Wirtz, VA on Sunday, June 22, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MDA, 2175 Northlake Pkwy., Suite 144; Tucker, GA 30084. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday afternoon at A. S. Turner & Sons.
