Rachel Spivey, 95, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012 peacefully surrounded by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. She was born on April 20, 1917 in Clarkston, Georgia to Fred Spivey and Bessie Anderson Spivey. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Sissie Hensler, Pete Spivey, Nick Spivey and Carroll Spivey. She is survived by her sister-in-law Nita Jo Spivey; nieces Connie Deal, Mary Bryan, Nancy Gray, Linda Brantley, and Kathy Smith; nephews Jackie Spivey, Dan Spivey, Matt Spivey and Royce Spivey and many great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews as well as friends and her family at Coventry Place where she resided for the past four years. Rachel was an avid Braves and Hawks fan, and was known as the bingo queen at Coventry Place. She will be missed by all who loved her. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 22 with Deacon Charles Griffin officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Red Cross. The family will receive friends this evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
