Ralph Coe Dodson, 93, of Decatur Georgia, died January 8, 2010. A life-long resident of Atlanta and Decatur, he is survived by two daughters, Linda Holt of Rabun County Georgia, and Janis Gamble of Venice Florida; one stepdaughter, Barbara P. Gerald of Sweetwater, Texas; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Madeline P. Dodson, and daughter, Janet Ayers. Ralph was a communicant at the Cathedral of St. Philip for over fifty-five years. He served several terms on The Chapter (Vestry) and on The Permanent Building Committee as Finance Officer. He also served as Usher Captain. A past President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Atlanta, Mr. Dodson served as President and CEO of Dodson Steel Products, Inc. until his retirement in 1983. Ralph was an avid golfer and played at the Druid Hills Golf Club for over forty years. In retirement Ralph resided in the Clairmont Place community where he was a member of the Lifeline Writers' Group and authored many popular short stories and poems. Friends and family are invited to services Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Cathedral of St. Philip, Atlanta. Visitation will be at 1 PM followed by services at 2 PM. Interment will be in the Cathedral Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Discretionary Fund for the Needy at the Cathedral of St. Philip, 2744 Peachtree Rd., Atlanta, GA 30305. A. S. Turner & Sons
