Mr. Ralph Doyle Welborn, of Lilburn died Wednesday, April 2, 2008. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. A country singer and musician for over 70 years, he was inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997. Mr. Welborn and Mr. Garner were owners of The Covered Wagon Country Music Night Club in Atlanta. When he retired from welding, he helped his wife run her flower shop, Flowers with Love, in Loganville for over 30 years. For the last few years, Mr. Welborn worked at Stone Mountain Park, where he operated the Skylift and worked on the Shuttle. His new family at Stone Mountain Park really meant a lot to him. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Mrs. Sarah Bradfield Welborn; daughter, Doylelaleana Shiree Foister and her husband Ron; grandchildren whom he adored, Faith, Jesse, Lily Grace and Katie Foister, all of Greensboro, N.C.; sisters, Mary Haley and Beatrice Kinley of Hartwell; nieces and nephews, Patricia, Deborah, Jody, Paul, Jack, Keith, and David. He is preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Outz. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Stone Mountain Park at the Pavilion located in the Campground.
