Ralph Noel Russell, 80, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2017. Born and raised in Alcoa, Tennessee, Ralph was the youngest of five children born to the late Cecil and Irene Russell. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. His family was always his first priority. Ralph was hard-working, generous, and loved to laugh with friends and family.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fay McMichen; his two children, Andrew Noel Russell and his wife, Raina Phillips Russell, and Kelley Russell Purdie and her husband, David Charles Purdie; grandchildren, Kinsey Rose Russell, David Heath Purdie, Grayson Russell Purdie, Julian Emerson Russell, as well as another grandson due in November; and many close friends.
Ralph was an electrical contractor and founded North DeKalb Electric Company in 1972. He claimed he had the best career imaginable, made many good friends through the business, and never really retired. He loved to travel around the United States and Europe with his family. He and his good friend, George Spencer, also attended many International Rotary Conventions over the years.
Ralph was a member of First Christian Church of Atlanta where he was president of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a member and past president of the Tucker Rotary Club, which he loved. Ralph also enjoyed the Atlanta Falcons and SEC football. Ralph will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
