Raymond Glenn Blankenbaker

October 18, 1940 — March 19, 2007

Raymond Glenn Blankenbaker died March 19, 2007 at age 66 at Hospice Atlanta. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 18, 1940. He moved to Atlanta with his Mother in the 1950's and graduated from Druid Hills High School. After some college, Glenn traveled the United States and lived in California for awhile. He served his country during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he settled in Atlanta and worked for Delta Airlines for 33 years. He married his wife, Tina Edwards, in December of 1973. Glenn was an avid Alabama football fan and attended as many games as possible. He loved to read and was an armchair traveler. After retirement, he became a man of leisure and spent time with his friends, yard saling with his wife, and, enjoying his collection of travel books. But his greatest pleasure was in spending time with his three granddaughters, Emma, Sara and Marliee. Even after 33 years of marriage, Glenn's eyes would still light up when his wife, Tina would come into view. He was the best dad ever to his only child, Laura Bales and considered his son-in-law Steven as his son. His many friends will remember him as a soft spoken and sweet man. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends, but he will continue to live on in our hearts. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 24, at 3:00 p.m. and the Memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the A.S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke, DUMC, Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710 or to your favorite charity. A. S. Turner & Sons
